ESCAPE TO THE BLUE BATH.

An escape for the senses is what was asked, so here is the end result! This client relayed in his first meetings that his favorite room in a house has always been the bathroom due to it’s silence, privacy, and even the soothing sound of water. “It’s the one place you can be alone and undisturbed with minimal sensory input.” All the colors and materials chosen were done so with the express purpose of being calming and spa-like. We elected a deep muted blue plaster to cloak the entire space in coziness. This certain type of plaster (Tadelakt it’s called) happens to be a great choice for bathrooms due to it’s water-resistance—you can even use it in the shower. Teak wood floors span the full bathroom which is pleasant underfoot, and white pebble tile wraps the countertop and floating shelves in a soothing texture. And we can’t forget about the massive open shower which boasts two rain heads, and the freestanding tub in front for those long afternoon soaks. With a retreat like this in the house—there may never be a reason to leave.
